On the 29th of November 1899, Joan Gamper found the football club Barcelona. The new club was successful enough, after losing to Bizcaya in the final of the Inaugural Copa del Rey in ( 1902 ).

The club later came back in style by winning the competition eight times. Between then and ( 1928 ). Then the next year, Barcelona won the La Liga, before entering a period of the slump because of the ongoing political conflicts in the country.

Gamper's time in Barcelona was shortly after he was exiled from Spain because of political reasons. This was all too much for him to bear, A year later he committed suicide. It's quite a strange coincidence that a man who loved the game so much died on the day of the first-ever FIFA world cup final.

Josep Sunyol had become the new director of FC Barcelona. He was a left-wing politician and this would finally lead to his death, he was executed by the Francoist regime in ( 1938 ). And later on, Helenio Herrera took over FC Barcelona.

Under Herrera's guidance, the club was successful and even became the first team to defeat Real Madrid in the European Cup. In the year ( 1988 ) Cruyff becomes FC Barcelona's manager.
