HISTORY
Chelsea FC was founded in (1905) by Gus Mears, an English businessman. He first bought the Stamford Bridge athletics stadium whit the intention of transforming it into a football ground.
His main plan was to rent it to an existing club but after a deal whit ( Fulham FC ) was stopped, he got the idea to start a new club.
Chelsea was the biggest club in the capital whit, In the late (the 1910s) the club became the first Britain club whit an average attendance of over (40,000).
The extensive attendance numbers made (" the pensioners") a nickname for the club, one of the richest football in the country, and also made it possible to pay well-reputed players. The club becomes home to the first non-British player in the football league.
The club's first league title in (1955) was a shock for everyone, Even though the club did not play well the previous season this unexpected success was enough to switch their fortunes around.
And the club soon returned to mundanity, during the next couple of decades Chelsea's on-field results were not much of a priority, as the club's officials were seriously fighting to avoid failure.
The ownership of the Mears Family was interrupted when the club was sold to the new owner Ken Bates (1982).
Chelsea did not return to the spotlight until (1996) and the appointment of Ruud Gullit as a player-manager. The club was at this period a team extensively dominated by foreign players.
A game on Boxing Day (1999) marked a new beginning in British League football when Chelsea's side against (Southampton) consisted of the first "all-overseas Xll". No British player was starting the match.
In (2003) Chelsea was sold to Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. The new owner immediately led the club to an era of financial stability, until Jose Mourinho's arrival as the new manager, the club won (back-to-back) premier league titles in (2005 & 2006) and also won (2) League Cups in (2005 & 2007) and FA Cup in (2007).
Mourinho later left the club due to several disagreements whit Abramovich, but he later returned in (2013) and was sacked in (2015) after a long period of weak performance.
And then Guus Hiddink took over as the new club manager. The club went unbeaten in Hiddink's first (15) games in charge. Some years later Antonio Conte was confirmed as the new Chelsea manager in march (2016).
He took charge for the (2016 - 2017) season, and under Conte, the team performed well during the season, winning the premier league and setting the new record for most wins whit (30 of 38) total games in a season.
The club was successful under him, until the failure to qualify for the champions league, Antonio Conte was sacked before the start of the next premier league season.
He was replaced whit Maurizio Sarri. The club also made its way to the final of the Europa League, where they beat (Arsenal) 4 - 1 on (29) May (2019) resulting in their second Europa League title.
And Frank Lampard took over as the new club manager, Lampard was in charge of the team finishing (4th in the premier league ), also reaching the final of the FA Cup, losing 2 - 1 to Arsenal. In January (2021) Chelsea sacked Frank Lampard and replaced him whit Thomas Tuchel, under Tuchel the club went on a good run of form and was unbeaten in Tuchel's first (15) games.
Chelsea won the champions league for the second time after beating Manchester City 1 - 0, they also won the UEFA Super Cup, beating Villarreal 6 - 5 on penalties after a 1 - 1 draw. Making it their second time to win the UEFA Super Cup. Chelsea also won their first FIFA Club World Cup title.
On (25) May (2022), the British government approved Todd Boehly as the new club owner.
