Manchester City was formed in the year 1880, under the name of ST. MARK'S, an initiative by Aurthur Connell and his daughter Anna Connell. The club was known as Self Gorton FC and Ardwick A.F.C for some period but was later changed to Manchester City in the year 1894. (10). MIKE SUMMERBEE ( 1965-1975 )

Joe Mercer's choice to make Mike Summerbee his first signing as the club manager, previous to the 1965/66 season was one of his best. The Cheltenham talented winger arrived, from Swindon Town to joined Manchester City in the year 1965. Summerbee proved an instant hit, with the City fans, and fitted perfectly into a side destined for promotion from the Second Division during his first season.

Summerbee was a good winger known for his speed, intelligence, game vision, defensive skills, and teamwork. For many defenders having a winger with such qualities, it is amazing. In 1968 Summerbee's contribution was incredible, he played 50 games in all competitions and scored 19 games. " I recall the United fans were giving me the usual stick as I went to take a corner in front of the Stretford and so I pretended to blow my nose on the corner flag" MIKE SUMMERBEE. He made 449 appearances and scored 67 goals for Manchester City.

(9). KEVIN DE BRUYNE (2015-PRESENT)

Kevin De Bruyne is a Belgian professional footballer, who is currently playing as a midfielder for Manchester City and also captains the Belgium national team. One of the world football's greatest attacking midfielders, known for his discipline, excellent positioning, superior passing ability, ability to read the game, excellent ball control, powerful long-range shots, and great leadership.

With his amazing creativity on the pitch, he has gone on to establish himself as one of Pep Guardiola's key and best players. His senior career began in the year 2009, with Genk and he went to greatly contribute in their title-winning side, making 17 goals contributions and scoring 6 goals in the 2010/11 season. In 2012, he moved to Chelsea and ended that season, and spend the following campaign on loan at Werder Bremen.

He was outstanding in the Bundesliga, Scoring 10 goals in over 33 starts before returning to Chelsea. In 2014, De Bruyne signed for Wolfsburg and established himself as one of the best playmakers in football history, scoring 16 goals and breaking the Bundesliga record with over 19 assists, and his team finished second and won the German Cup in the 2014/15 season.

His great performances made him Bundesliga Player of the Year and Footballer of the Year. De Bruyne moved to Manchester City in the year 2015, he made a great impact in his debut season, his 16 goals and 15 assists for his first campaign were the reason he was voted City's player of the season. De Bruyne has contributed to City countless times on many occasions, he has currently played over 354 games and scored over 98 goals for City.

(8). YAYA TOURE ( 2010-2018 )

Aspiring to be a striker in his youth career, Toure is widely considered one of the world's best midfielders. Known for his defensive skills, awareness, tackling ability, passing ability, and good positioning. In July 2010, Toure signed for Manchester City and was given shirt number 42, the turn-back of the 24 he had previously worn at Barcelona.

The 2011/12  season saw Toure solidify his place in the team, he was the major key player in a team that secured Manchester City's first League Championship in over 40 years in 2015. Playing against Liverpool became a close affair as Yaya played against former teammate and brother, Kolo Toure. When Pep Guardiola arrived at City, Toure was omitted from the Champions League squad of 2016/17, but still proved himself as a great player, making a return to the pitch against Crystal Palace in a 2-1 victory. Toure has contributed countless times for City, and will forever be remembered in City's history. He made 292 appearances and scored 81 goals for Manchester City.

(7). FRANCIS LEE ( 1967-1974 )

Lee played for Bolton Wanderers from 1956 till he joined Manchester City, Lee moved to City in the year 1967, and he was the highest scorer for 5 seasons. Lee is a good striker known for his dedication, self-confidence, intelligence, creativity, goal-scoring ability, and teamwork.

Lee scored his fourth goal in a 4-3 away victory against Newcastle United to top the first Division title in the year 1968. He also scored a penalty in the European Cup Winners Cup final in City's 2-1 win over Gornik in 1970. Lee amazed City's fans with his Scoring ability and excellent techniques, Lee contributed greatly to City over the decades and will remain in the heart of City's fans. He made 328 appearances and scored 148 goals for Manchester City.

(6). ERIC BROOK ( 1928-1939 )

Eric Brook started his football career at Barnsley and soon got the attention of Manchester City. He joined City in the year 1928, played 12 games, and scored 2 goals as City was promoted to Second Division Champions. Eric Brook is a player known for his speed, self-confidence, so energetic, very skillful, good penalty taker, powerful shot accuracy, and game vision.

With his muscular physique, he was described as being so strong. He played his part greatly in helping his team to reach FA Cup final appearances. In the 1935 final, a 3-0 defeat by Everton, Eric Brook wore the number 12 jersey, which is the first time that number had been worn in an FA Cup final. Manchester City with the great help of Eric Brook, went back to Wembley in 1934, this time beating Portsmouth 2-1 to bring the trophy home. Earlier, in the quarter-final of a match against Stoke City, Eric Brook had scored what City's fans consider to be the greatest Manchester City goal of all time. He made 493 appearances and scored 177 goals for City.

(5). BERT TRAUTMANN ( 1949-1964 )

When Bert started playing football, initially as a defender, but in a match he was injured he changed his mind to become a goalkeeper. And this became his position in football, it was during this time that he was known as Bert.

His reputation grew quickly and the first club to come for him was Manchester City, he joined City on 7th October in the year 1949. He joined City as an amateur and later became a professional goalkeeper. Bert is a great goalkeeper known for his good blocking, quick reflexes, good positioning in front of the goal, ability to anticipate any type of shot, and good movement.

Bert made his debut for City on 19 November in the year 1949, in an away match against Bolton Wanderers at Burnden Park in Division 1. In 1955 he was on the losing team in the FA Cup final, City was beaten 1-3 by Newcastle United. However the next year City returned to Wembley defeating Birmingham City 3-1 to win the 1956 FA Cup. He made a total of 545 appearances for City.

(4). VINCENT KOMPANY ( 2008-2019 )

Vincent Kompany played for 3 seasons at Anderlecht, before moving to Hamburg in 2006 and joining Manchester City in 2008 at the age of 22. Kompany is widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders in football history, known for his ability to think tactically, maintain position, assertiveness, and great leadership.

Francis Lee would later call Kompany " the best center-back ever" to play for City in 2011, a year that saw him as part of the FA Cup winning and Champions League Qualifying squad. During the 2011/12 season as the team captain, he would lead the squad to Victory in the Premier League with a narrow win over  Q.P.R in the final game of the season. 

Kompany's mind to succeed for his club was evidenced by his returning as soon as he was fit to do so after a muscular injury earning him the respect of his teammates and support. In City's centuries year, Kompany managed 17 League starts, suffering a muscular injury, but he also scored the amazing second goal of a 3-0 win over Arsenal in the 2018 League Cup final. He made 338 appearances and scored 20 goals for City.

(3). COLIN BELL ( 1966-1979 )

Colin Bell began his professional football career with Bury F.C., between 1963 and 1966. During that time he performed greatly, and became the team's captain. Colin Bell joined Manchester City in 1966 and made his first team debut against Derby County away at the Baseball ground on 19 March in Division 2. Colin Bell scored his first goal for City in a 2-1 victory it was amazing.

In 1975 Colin Bell was injured in a League match against Manchester United, which he suffered for 2 years. Colin Bell comeback on boxing day 1977 at Maine Road, in a match against Newcastle United. He came in as a substitute for the second half with the score 0-0, but the game changed and City win 4-0 and City's fans were all excited. Colin Bell was inducted into the Manchester City Hall of Fame in 2004, he made 498 appearances and scored 153 goals for City.

(2). DAVID SILVA ( 2010-2020 )

He is one of the greatest players in the City's history, who justifies the title of legend. Adored and loved by Manchester City fans around the world, Silva had a successful career with Manchester City winning trophy after trophy. Silva joined City in the year 2010 from Valencia as a World Cup Champion. Silva is one of the best midfielders in football, well known for his excellent ball control, awareness, discipline, superior passing ability, game vision, communication well, effective shield of the defenders, and great leadership.

Silva adapted quickly to the premier league, his heroic immediate winning over City's fans. His first goal for City came away at Blackpool, showing his unique extraordinary talent. When he had the ball it appeared that he had so much space than other players on the pitch. By the end of his first season, he had helped his team win the FA Cup, the Club's first major trophy in over 33 years.

In 2012, City won the premier league and more trophies followed. He was named Manchester City Players' Player of the Year in 2012 and Manchester City Player of the Year in 2017. He has also been named in the premier league team of the year twice. His wonderful performances at Ethad will forever remain in the heart of City's fans, he made a total of 436 appearances and scored 77 goals for City.

(1). SERGIO AGÜERO ( 2011-2021 )

Sergio Aguero has listed his name in Manchester City's history, as the club's all-time highest goal scorer. This City's legend was signed in the year 2011, Aguero made his first season debut for City on August 15, 2011. Against Swansea City at the home ground, and then went on to score 30 goals in this title-winning season.

Aguero is one of the greatest strikers in football history, known for his stamina, teamwork, dedication, sacrifice, commitment, self-confidence, intelligence, good finishing, goal-scoring ability, creativity, and great leadership. The nickname "KUN" is taken from a Japanese cartoon he used to watch as a child. 

ERIC BROOK actually would have scored more if not for WORLD WAR II, but if Aguero were to manage 9 goals in all competitions before he left, he would have more goals at least 50% more than his next rival. Since 2007, he has been scoring in double figures in every season, his worst season with City is the 2012/13 season, he scored only 17 goals the only time he did not score up to 20 goals in a season.

Aguero years with Manchester City were successful, he amazed City's fans with his goal celebrations and extraordinary goal-scoring techniques. He made 312 appearances and scored 254 goals for Manchester City.
